I've been complaining about Ronin's napping habits for a few months now. He used to sleep in his crib/pack & play for naps just fine. Then like a switch went off and he hated sleeping in there. Night time is no problem, he goes down easy and sleeps all through the night. He normally goes to bed between 8:30-9pm doesn't get up till between 7-8am. Nap time is another story. He just cries and cries. And he is tired and will sleep if we're holding him. So of course instead of trying to work with him on it we just caved and would hold/carry him during nap time. Well realistically we can't always do that. And if I leave him with someone do I expect them to hold my son for 2 hours while he naps? So Danny & I decided that we were going to start putting him in his crib for naps.
Now don't judge me. If you don't agree with the cry it out method that's fine and I understand, but I'm at my wits end and I need for my son to be able to sleep by himself for naps. I know he's safe, fed, diaper clean and I would in no way do anything to hurt my baby. I also have a video monitor so I can keep an eye on him. With that being said, day 1 for his 1st nap he cried for 2 hours. Yes 2 hours. It was the worst 2 hours of my life. And just when I was about to break and go in and save him, he was sound asleep. For his 2nd nap he cried for about an hour. Day 2 - 1st nap cried again for 2 hours and then fell asleep. 2nd nap only 30 minutes! My sister is still here and she has been very encouraging and helping us through it. If she wasn't here I don't think that I could do it. She had to do the same thing with my niece Layla and now she is a great sleeper. So that encourages me to keep on going. I put Layla down for her nap and not a peep came out of her! I'm hoping that by the end of the weekend he'll be one napping baby in a crib. We'll see how day 3 goes!
